ABOUT ALYSIAN WINES

Alysian Wines is handcrafted in Healdsburg, CA.

Maintaining meticulous attention to detail while keeping an open minded, and even sometimes a hands off approach to winemaking, lends to our nuanced libations. We source from veteran growers and off-the-beaten-path vineyards in Sonoma County, Mendocino County, Humboldt County and as far north as Oregon’s Willamette Valley.

Woody was born in a house in Anchorage, Alaska and shortly after moved to the Bay Area. Introduced to the wine business at a young age, his interests eventually led him to relocate from NYC to Healdsburg in 2010. In addition to making wines for Alysian Winery, Alysian Vermouth, and Floodgate Wine Co, he oversees grape growing at the Grist Vineyard in the Dry Creek Valley. When he is not at the winery you can find him working in his organic garden with his dogs, pigs and chickens. Or, chances are he is on his GS motorcycle in the wilds of the west coast, exploring far off the beaten path.

Jessa Blades is not only one of our favourite natural beauties, but she was one of the first in the world to switch her kit to natural and organic brands and is also a holistic self care expert and herbalist.

Based in New York and Los Angeles, when she's not working on set as a makeup artist, Jessa uses her fifteen years of experience and knowledge for private lessons and group workshops for women guiding them on how to master natural makeup, choose the best and healthiest products and incorporate herbs and food-based medicine into their lives.

Jessa has been featured as one of Glamour magazine’s “70 Amazing Eco-Heroes” and chosen as TreeHugger's "Best Green Makeup Artist." She has contributed to Vogue, The New York Times, Mind Body Green, Into the Gloss, Style.com, Well and Good and appeared on The Today Show.

Jessa's mission is to infuse the message of self-care and empowerment into the conversation around beauty and good health – it’s not just about what you look like, but how you feel that matters too.

We are excited to be co-hosting Jessa’s first London event at The Marylebone with The Juicery. Starting with cocktails and fresh, organic juices from The Juicery, the evening will explore natural beauty with a make-up demonstration, a discussion on Jessa’s favourite self-care practices and a Q&A with Jessa and Imelda from Content on your skin concerns.

The workshop will culminate by putting some of these tips into practice by creating your very own personalised herbal tea to take home.

Read more about the presenters and vendors below:

The Fifth Vital Sign is a grassroots project using education as preventative care through informed choice and body literacy. The founding doula-nurse team traveled across the US for three months last year, offering free reproductive health classes in over 60 locations. They always strive to spread unbiased reproductive health information so that we all feel more secure, safe, and alive in our bodies.

Jessa Blades is a make up artist, natural beauty expert and herbalist. She has been a make up artist for 14 years and specializes in natural, non-toxic and healing beauty. Inspired by the idea of true healing and wellness, Jessa made the switch to natural products and founded her company Blades Natural Beauty in 2008, providing simple routines, pure products, and expert advice. When she's not working on set for editorial clients, Jessa teaches private lessons and group workshops for women on how to apply makeup, how to choose the best and healthiest products, and how to incorporate herbs and food based medicine into their lives to heal their skin. Jessa has studied with a group of wise and powerful teachers: Rosemary Gladstar, Peeka Trenkle, Phyllis Light, and Nancy Phillips. She curates an amazing collection of beauty and wellness products and sells them through her site: http://www.bladesnaturalbeauty.com

Lindsey Vestal owns The Functional Pelvis, a private practice specializing in pelvic floor therapy “house calls” for pre- and postnatal women. She graduated from NYU with a Master’s of Science in Occupational Therapy. She has dedicated her career to empowering women to find relief from conditions such as bowel and urinary incontinence, constipation, dyspareunia, pelvic pain, prolapse and pre and postnatal complications.

Icon is pee-proof underwear that keeps you dry and odor-free from light leaks. Leaks happen to 1 in 3 women. They are all about celebrating our strength as women, while chuckling at the ways our beautiful, imperfect, sexy, hilarious, resilient, leaky bodies can go rogue. For Icon, it's equally important to help our sisters around the world with some of the all-too-common issues they face, like Fistula. 1,000,000 women suffer from fistula, but fewer than 20,000 are treated each year. Through the Fistula Foundation, every pair of Icon sold helps fund life-changing surgeries for women in developing countries.

Roy Swim comes from the mind and hands of Liane Roy FitzGerald, who, after ten years of serious bikini-wearing as a lifeguard on the Chilmark beaches, made it her mission to create fun, comfortable, quality handmade bikinis. Every piece is designed to be seamless & reversible, and is handmade by Liane in her traveling studio--mostly in Martha's Vineyard and New York City.

Join Jessa Blades, Cyndie Spiegel, and Ellie Burrows at Follain Soho Wednesday, 2/22 from 6-9pm as we explore simple, practical ways to put yourself first.

In a world we're constantly being pulled in a million different directions, self-care can seem like a lofty notion. Who has time to be unavailable to others and brew soothing tea while wearing a face mask AND have a regular meditation practice? Turns out, you do.

Jessa Blades is a natural beauty expert, professional makeup artist, herbalist and all around self-care guru. She beautifies, heals, and enlightens people wherever she roams, from LA to NYC to Nantucket and beyond.

Cyndie Spiegel is a speaker and small business coach based in Brooklyn whose "don't be an asshole" philosophy and bright spirit (and lipstick) immediately won our hearts. She coaches and advocates for women around the world, and is an adjunct professor at Parsons School of Design.

Ellie Burrows traveled the world as a spiritual tourist before returning to New York to receive her Certificate in Coaching from NYU. Seeking to pursue mindfulness in a meaningful way, Ellie hatched the idea for MNDFL, where she is the co-founder and CEO.

Filigree Suppers: Salt of the Earth

Every problem can be solved with a bit of salt- sweat, tears or the sea.

Filigree Suppers is in NYC again with a intimate dinner at Brooklyn's Maison May. "Salt of the Earth" will focus on the role of salt in food and everyday life. Sommelier Lee Campbell is back with a lovely selection of wines grown in briney soil to be paired with a custom menu by Maison May Vanderbilt. Catherine May has created a warm and welcoming space in Fort Greene that celebrates the art of handmade items for home along with thoughtfully prepared vibrant cuisine.
